Gaslight Coffee Roasters is a café and roaster in Logan Square. It roasts on Mondays, and its menu of seasonal single-origin coffees changes through the year. Recent lots include a honey-processed Catuai from Daniela and her family’s farm in San Marcos de Tarrazú, Costa Rica, fermented with lactobacillus and dried on raised beds, and a washed Guatemala from ALMA, a blend programme in the highlands that sends five cents from every pound sold to Habitat for Humanity Guatemala’s smokeless stove programme. The Tranquility decaf is a Mexican coffee cupped as green before decaffeination with the ethyl acetate method, and there are whole beans picked for cold brew.
The café serves coffee, espresso and cold brew alongside matcha, chai, Spirit Tea and oat and almond milks, with pastries from Aya Pastry every day. Online, Gaslight sells a coffee subscription of its seasonal single origins with free shipping, a tasting set of three 6 oz bags, a single-origin chocolate bar from the Anamalai Estate in India, a Malabar herbal tea and greeting cards letterpressed by its neighbours at Steel Petal Press. Its wholesale side partners with businesses on coffee programmes, training, café consulting and equipment sales, and it puts together corporate gifts.
