Kul Coffee opened in 2025 in Hillside, at the top of Leith Walk. The company behind it, Kul Coffee Roasters Limited, was registered in January 2025 with Emre Koray Kul as its director, but the café does not present itself as a roaster. It works with guest roasters instead. Its first house roaster was Swerl Coffee Roasters from Falkenberg in Sweden, announced in June 2025 with this line: “Every coffee roaster has its own identity. We will follow the ones we resonate with.”

The café makes a feature of pour-overs. It keeps a “Pour overs” highlight on Instagram and has posted a Kenyan Kirinyaga AA from the Kii washing station among its filter options, next to an espresso bar built around a Slayer machine. The tagline is “Where coffee brews community”. It is walk-in only and has a laptop policy, and its European Coffee Trip listing adds cold brew, decaf, breakfast and plant-based milk, with outdoor seating and a welcome for children and dogs.

Instagram is the café’s only official channel. Its website did not respond when we checked, so the facts here come from that account, the company register and the European Coffee Trip listing.

Coffee on the bar

Coffee details come from the roaster's own listings and are dated observations, not a promise of what is on the grinder today.
