Allegra Wolff started Mystifry after moving to Switzerland from Hamburg and finding few plant-based options. She worked on a brioche doughnut recipe and fried at pop-up kitchens across the country before opening the shop in Basel’s old town in 2020, a short walk from the Münster and the Mittlere Rheinbrücke. The whole shop is plant-based.

The doughnuts are made by hand and the menu changes at the start of every month. The October board runs a pumpkin spice latte doughnut with a spiced coffee glaze and spiced vanilla whipped cream, a chocolate pistachio, a cinnamon sugar and an apple miso caramel with a house-made miso caramel drizzle. The shop is small and has no seating, so everything is takeaway, and it closes for the day once the doughnuts sell out. Doughnuts can also be pre-ordered.

The specialty coffee currently brewing is a Huehuetenango from Guatemala, roasted by Bean Goose Coffee in Liestal.
