ZEITGEIST Café is a coffee shop and brunch café near Place des Terreaux, in Lyon’s 1st arrondissement. Everything on the menu is vegan: every product is prepared without a single ingredient of animal origin, and the pastries are made in house.
The coffee is served as espresso and milk drinks, from noisette and cortado to flat white and latte macchiato, and as filter, with a V60 for one and a Chemex for two. Every drink can be made iced or decaffeinated. Oat and soy are the standard milks, with almond and coconut as alternatives. Beyond coffee there is matcha, chai, golden milk, kombucha and house lemonade, and the teas and tisanes are organic and come from Chabiothé.
The cake counter changes with the seasons: a speculoos latte with a cinnamon roll in winter, an iced mango matcha with a framboisier in summer. There is a brunch menu, a set formula that changes every month, with one savoury plate, one sweet plate, a hot drink and a cold drink, and a gluten-free version on request. The room, with its backlit stone arches, takes bookings and can be hired for birthdays and company evenings.
