Blend opened in 2017 in Sneinton Market, a revamped 1930s fruit and vegetable market whose units have since filled with artisans, entrepreneurs and independent businesses. It set out to be a hub for Nottingham people and visitors, a place to pull up a seat and spend some time. There are now three Blend cafés: the original in Sneinton Market, one at Nottingham Contemporary and Blend East West at City Gate East.
The coffee is roasted by Stewarts, a Nottingham roaster based close by in Sneinton, with carbon-neutral deliveries to the cafés. The espresso blend is served straight, with dairy or alternative milks, or as an iced latte, and a batch brew changes regularly. Stewarts beans and coffee-making kit are on the shelves in every venue, ground fresh to order.
The kitchen serves its “famous grilled-cheese toasties”, a brunch menu, seasonal dishes, fresh pastries and handmade cakes, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, and soft and alcoholic drinks alongside the coffee.
