Barcelona rewards the coffee drinker who pays attention to the address. A counter near Plaça Catalunya, an outdoor table on Ausiàs Marc, a café in Gràcia: the setting changes the shape of the stop, even before you choose a coffee.

This is our starting list of four independent businesses. Each is both a coffee shop and a roaster, which makes the link between a cup and the people behind the roast especially easy to follow.

Three Marks: make time for Ausiàs Marc

Start at Carrer d’Ausiàs Marc, 151. Three Marks also lists a roastery and academy at Moll de la Ronda, 10, and a forthcoming Castillejos location. The café and the roasting operation belong to the same business; they are different stops in its story.

The attraction for a curious coffee drinker is the catalogue behind the counter. Its published coffees include origins in Ethiopia, Kenya, Colombia, Costa Rica and Panama. Treat that as an invitation to ask about the day’s selection, rather than a promise that every online lot will be on the shelf.

NOMAD: choose the kind of pause you want

NOMAD’s three listed Barcelona cafés offer three useful starting points. Coffee Bar is at Passatge Sert, 12. Frutas Selectas is at Carrer de Pujades, 95. Petit NOMAD is at Carrer de Bergara, 10, close to Plaça Catalunya.

For a small city-centre stop, begin with Petit. For the wider NOMAD story, look at the coffees and the roasting business as well as the address. NOMAD established its Barcelona operation in 2014 and publishes a broad catalogue with separate espresso and filter selections.

SlowMov: a Gràcia address with a roasting story

SlowMov’s café is at Carrer de Neptú, 36. François and Carmen started the business in Barcelona in 2015. Its own account of its work puts sourcing, producer information and packaging alongside the finished coffee.

That makes it a useful stop for people who want the bag to tell a longer story. SlowMov publishes growing origins, processes and varieties, and describes its move to compostable packaging in 2018.

Abyss: follow Diagonal to the roastery café

Abyss lists its roastery café at Avinguda Diagonal, 93. Its catalogue separates espresso, filter and decaffeinated coffees, giving you several ways into the same roasting business.

Our reason for including it is that direct connection between the roastery café and its coffee offering. Start with the café; follow the lot details when something catches your attention.

Before you go

Check each business’s official website for current opening hours. Addresses and catalogue details were checked on 17 October 2026; neither an editorial selection nor an online product listing confirms stock at a café.

This guide is based on the businesses’ published information. It does not claim that we visited, interviewed the teams or independently tasted their coffees.
