Normo is a coffee bar and micro-roastery in Antwerp’s historic centre. The coffee is roasted at Normo’s own roastery in Borgerhout, a short way east, which opens by appointment.
Normo’s roasters want to follow their own direction. They put the farmers first, give them most of the credit for the hard work, and present each coffee “zo naakt mogelijk”, as bare as possible, so that customers can find out what coffee can be. They see roasting as releasing the aromas and flavours already locked in the structure of the green bean. The espressos are light-roasted but balanced, and the filter coffees suit every brewing method. Normo also sells direct-trade tea selected by the Belgian tea sommelier Ann van Steenkiste, and brewing gear.
For cafés and restaurants, Normo works as a partner rather than a supplier: it plans bars, trains baristas, helps buy machines and follows up afterwards. Its coffee is poured in cafés in Antwerp, Berchem, Lier and Ghent.
