MOK was founded in 2012 by Jens Crabbé, twice Belgian Cup Tasters Champion, and its slogan is “Honest, remarkable & uncompromising”. It works with the same farmers year after year, buys seasonally with full traceability and is “never driven by price”. The coffee is roasted on a Probat UG22 with Cropster, in batches of 10 to 23 kg, small enough to control each profile closely. Besides its own cafés, MOK supplies independent cafés and restaurants and sells online.

The first MOK bar opened in Leuven in 2012, in Jens Crabbé’s hometown. It pours two rotating single origins on a La Marzocco PB and several coffees as hand brews, with pastries made in house, room to work and a sunny terrace. The Brussels flagship, in a former art gallery in the Dansaert district, opened at the end of 2016. It has an open bar, a space at the back for laptops, home-baked pastries and a seasonal vegetarian breakfast and lunch.

MOK Studio, the newest site, is a listening and coffee bar in the lobby of the record label PIAS in Brussels. A hi-fi system and custom furniture face the bar, which serves a long list of coffees as hand brews or on a Strietman espresso machine, teas from Postcard Teas in London and a single-size milk drink that sits between a cappuccino and a flat white. On the last Sunday of each month the Studio opens for curated events and serves natural wine.

The team includes Yang-Bing Hong, Belgian Cup Tasters Champion in 2024, and Marlies Jacques, Belgian Brewers Cup Champion in 2025.
