Stir began in 2015 in the heart of Chesterton, and the independently owned business now runs four bakery cafés around Cambridge, serving brunch and coffee. Besides Chesterton there is a café on the high street in Histon, one in the old Swiss Laundry building and one on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, five minutes’ walk from Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where tables can be booked.

The bread, pastries, cookies, traybakes and celebration cakes come from Stir’s own bakery near Cambridge North station, where the team bakes overnight. The kitchens serve breakfast, brunch and takeaway lunches from a menu of classic favourites and more creative dishes, with bagels from the bakery and a kids’ menu. Stir also caters for offices and parties, with brioche breakfast rolls, bagel platters and iced coffees canned in-house on the morning of delivery, and its sister business Marvin’s runs two sandwich shops in the city.

The coffee in every Stir café comes from Assembly, the London roaster.
