Ritual was founded in Cheltenham in 2019 by Courtney Conroy and Callum, to raise the standard of coffee in the Cotswolds. The idea came from a gap they kept seeing: the trade obsessed over origin, processing and roast profiles, while the person pulling the shot and the team opening up at six in the morning got far less attention. Every batch is roasted by hand in Cheltenham, and the coffees are profiled for real café conditions. In 2026 Ritual became a certified B Corp.
The Brew Bar is at the roastery on the Lansdown Industrial Estate and serves espresso and filter coffee. The Ritual Kitchen cooks breakfast and brunch in-house from locally sourced ingredients, on a menu that changes with the seasons, and an outside café serves coffee, milkshakes and soft serve in the warmer months. The bar is walk-in only, dogs are welcome and there is free parking in front of the roastery. The core blends and the newest single origins are on sale in the shop, and the Head of Coffee, Joel, leads cupping evenings called The Roasters Table.
Ritual also roasts for cafés, hotels and workplaces, and supplies its wholesale partners with training in extraction, milk and workflow, and with machines and grinders as an official supplier of La Marzocco, Mahlkönig and BWT. The coffees are grouped into Routine, Refine and Rare, and the Routine blends come from farms Ritual has bought from for years.
