Nine Hostages takes its name from Niall of the Nine Hostages, whose story is tied to the north of Ireland. The café sits inside Derry’s city walls, a stop for people walking them, and its line is “Proper coffee. Proper food.”

Brunch is served all day, every day, from eggs Benedict and French toast to sourdough and carrot cake, alongside baked goods and freshly prepared food. The café is pet friendly.

The coffee comes from Cadre, a Belfast roaster whose range is grouped by style, from chocolate-and-nuts daily drinkers to bright, floral coffees, experimental ferments and decaf.
