Szklarnia, the greenhouse, is a vegan café in Kleparz, just north of Kraków’s Old Town, for coffee, books and flowers. It opened in 2020 and is the eldest of three sisters: Zgoda Café followed in Nowa Huta in 2023, and Damka, the bakery west of the Old Town, bakes for it. The counter carries cakes and sandwiches, and the bar pours beer, wine and cider alongside the coffee and matcha.
Most of the time the filter coffee in the thermos is a coffee the café chooses and Pale, a Kraków roaster, roasts for it. The same coffee sells in cans decorated by artist friends of the café. The shelf also carries bags from other Polish roasters, along with coffee accessories.
The café has a garden, where friends play acoustic sets, and the walls host exhibitions, among them a show of analogue photography whose opening invited guests to write letters. Szklarnia does not roast; Pale roasts its house filter.
