Not Guilty Pleasure is a Ukrainian vegan café in the Ludwigsvorstadt, near the Alter Südfriedhof. Everything on the menu is vegan, and the kitchen bakes gluten-free, with an organic flour blend of wholegrain rice, maize starch and wholegrain millet standing in for wheat. Sweetness comes from agave, coconut blossom sugar, maltitol, xylitol and erythritol rather than sugar.
The coffee is specialty coffee roasted in Ukraine. It is served as espresso and doppio, cappuccino, latte, latte macchiato and flat white, a CapuOrange, and as hand brew, with a babyccino for children. Iced versions run from an iced black coffee and an iced latte to an iced orange coffee and an espresso tonic. Beyond coffee there is ceremonial cacao, masala chai, ceremonial-grade matcha in several lattes, and house syrups, including a Lebkuchen latte built on hazelnut paste and warm spices and a banana bread latte made with fresh bananas and vanilla. The lemonades are made in house, from passion fruit, sea buckthorn and raspberry.
Breakfast is Ukrainian and plant-based: savoury oat porridge with basil, sun-dried tomatoes and vegan parmesan, buckwheat waffles with pistachio cream, a kimchi sandwich, an almond quiche with artichokes, and avocado toast on gluten-free wholegrain bread with beetroot hummus. Vegan salmon, caviar, bacon, feta and cream cheese are the add-ons. The dessert counter is the other half of the café: a raspberry heart with cashew filling, carrot cake, a cherry and cardamom cake, lemon tartlets, an ube cheesecake, a Napoleon of chickpea-flour layers with raspberries, and a coffee-bean dessert of chocolate and coconut cream.
