Komodo is an independent espresso and filter bar in Brighton Square, in the heart of the Lanes, brewing coffees sourced and roasted by roasters from the UK and beyond. Its bakes are made in-house with seasonal ingredients. It opened in a tiny room in March 2023 and turned three in March 2026.
The coffees rotate. In 2026 the retail shelf has carried three coffees from Datura in Paris, two washed Kenyans and a natural Gesha from Panama, and the filter favourites of one of its baristas in March 2026 were a Thermal Shock Gesha from Zennor and a natural Papayo from The Source, both from Colombia. Iced drinks stay on all year: one season’s cold brew was a natural Maragogype, and in August 2026 it was a Bourbon Aji from Franky Hoyos in Colombia, roasted by KoBean.
A reading shelf keeps the latest issues of Standart and Positive News. At the 2026 Brighton Coffee Festival two of the team ran the brew bar, pouring an Ombligon and a Gesha on V60 with a miso dark chocolate cookie, while the rest kept Komodo open in Brighton Square.
