Cult Coffee Roasters are straight-up coffee people, brewing and roasting in Edinburgh since 2014, and not an actual cult. It began that year with a wee café in Newington, a short walk from the University of Edinburgh and the Meadows, a space to study, relax and drink coffee. More than a decade on, it supplies cafés and businesses all over the UK.
Roasting came later, after years of growing the café. The roastery is in Newbridge, on the western edge of the city, where every batch is unique and seasonality is the focus. Roasting runs at the start of the week, Monday to Wednesday, and wholesale orders ship on Wednesdays. Wholesale partners get free training from the in-house team, from espresso dial-in to latte art, plus equipment set-up through partners and ongoing machine maintenance, and the café has hosted latte art competitions over the years.
The retail range is a short list of single origins in 250g and 1kg bags, each offered as a filter or espresso roast and whole bean or ground. Dawn ’Til Dusk, a washed Colombian from Nariño sourced through Cofinet, is the house coffee and the basis of a monthly subscription; its decaf counterpart, Dusk ’Til Dawn, comes from Popayán in Cauca. The current lots name their importers, among them Cofinet, Semilla and Langdons. In 2026 the company revealed a new brand and packaging as a new chapter; its earlier name was Cult Espresso. Orders ship worldwide.
