Fortitude Coffee was established in 2014 and makes “sweet, balanced and delicious coffee, roasted in Scotland”. The company finds fortitude in the everyday, in resilience, patience and kindness in small moments, with coffee as a daily companion. Over a decade it has grown to a roastery and two cafés, in Stockbridge and Abbeyhill, and brings more than ten years of coffee knowledge to every cup.
The range is seasonal single origins plus the Fortitude Blend, which is usually the main espresso in the cafés and whose origins change every three to four months; the current version pairs La Palma from Colombia with Gatubu AA from Kenya. All of its coffee is omni-roasted to work on both espresso and filter. Rwanda recurs in the range: the roaster has bought from the Shyira washing station in Nyabihu for seven years, sells washed, natural and anoxic lots from it, and few coffees represent the roastery better. Raw Material is its import partner for the Shyira and Villamaría lots.
Beans come in 250g and 1kg bags, whole or ground to order, and by subscription in two forms: Classic sends the blend, Curated rotates through the current range. Subscriptions ship in recyclable envelopes, and the coffee bags are LDPE 4.
