Fika North takes its name from the Swedish word for a moment to slow down over coffee with friends. It is a small coffee bar in the leafy suburb of Far Headingley, serving coffee alongside freshly baked pastries, cakes and made-to-order bagels from a menu of staples, monthly specials and occasional collaborations. Espresso martinis and mimosas are on the drinks list, and an ice cream machine runs from early April until September.
The house coffee is roasted by Casa Espresso in Shipley, near Bradford, and the baristas choose a new single origin every few months, from a chocolatey Brazil to a fruity, floral Uganda, all pulled on a La Marzocco. Batch brews change constantly and come from roasters across the UK, and Casa’s beans are sold to take home, ground to order. The sister shop down the road, Bottle Chop, serves the same coffee with schiacciata sandwiches and natural wine.
Dogs are welcome and there are baby changing facilities. Fika North takes no reservations.
