Nepà is a fully vegan pasticceria near Milano Centrale, opened in April 2023 by Paola, Martina and Giulia after almost two years of research and planning. Martina and Giulia are sisters with more than ten years in coffee bars and hospitality. Paola develops the recipes at Fornovegano, the laboratory behind Nepà, which also supplies restaurants, bars and hotels. The founders wanted a modern, inclusive pastry shop that puts taste first, and they present the move to plant-based pastry as experimentation rather than renunciation.
Everything is made without butter, milk, eggs or honey: croissants, pain au chocolat, maritozzi, cinnamon rolls, tartlets, macarons and mignon pastries, with gluten-free options among them. Beyond breakfast there is a lunch service, an aperitivo with snacks from the laboratory, a brunch, takeaway, catering for events and delivery across Milan by electric vehicle.
The coffee menu runs from espresso and macchiato to americano, filter coffee, cappuccino, flat white, latte macchiato and marocchino, alongside barley coffee, matcha, golden milk and chai lattes. The coffee is fair trade and organic. Soy milk is the default base, oat, almond, coconut or hazelnut can replace it, plant-based cream goes on top, and any drink can be made iced.
