Triple Co Roast is a roastery in Bristol, founded in early 2015 by Jo Thompson after two years in California, where he studied, learned about coffee and roasted at home. The name comes from a threefold mission: roasting in small batches, buying green coffee through direct trade with farmers, and keeping close relations between roaster and customer.
It is an open-access roastery, so visitors can come in, watch the roasting and ask questions, and education is part of the work. Its coffees are bought directly from farmers or from suppliers who trade directly, and Triple Co pays on average three times the New York “C” price. The BS1 Espresso, built for flat whites and cappuccinos, has come from the Procaal cooperative near Buesaco in Nariño, Colombia, for more than ten years, and the same partners supply its sugarcane decaf.
The range runs from house blends such as BS1, Jumpstart and the Brazilian Cruise Control to Mixtape, a seasonal espresso blend with rotating components, Slow Burn, a half-caff blend, a seasonal Shop Filter and a changing list of single lots. Triple Co also sells compostable coffee capsules and its own teas, and it supplies businesses with wholesale coffee, espresso machines, training and servicing.
