Bold Street Coffee’s first café, the original, has been an institution of Liverpool’s hospitality scene since 2010, on the street it is named after, serving coffee, bakes and brunch all day, every day. The tagline is “Specialty Coffee. Northern Hospitality.” The original is on Deliveroo and Uber Eats for ordering at home, and the business is part of GSG Hospitality.

There are now eight sites. In Liverpool they are the original, a café in The Plaza, one in Duke Street Market and one inside the Climbing Hangar at the Matchworks in the south of the city. Manchester has three, including one at University Green and one in Spinningfields, and the eighth is in Glossop’s Market Hall. For weddings, festivals and events the business hires out an espresso mobile. Bringing your own cup, or one of its KeepCups, earns a discount on every drink.

The coffee is Bold Street Coffee’s own: it roasts, packs and sends the coffee, and the online shop sells ten coffees under its name, most labelled “Roasted for” espresso or filter, with producer, region, process and variety on most of them and the green importer named on some: Covoya, Coffee Bird and Langdon Coffee Merchants. Sam Cooper, head of coffee, picks a brew of the month. Subscriptions rotate the coffees every two weeks, with espresso, filter and decaf options, and the bags are recyclable LDPE. The current retail range is listed below with the roaster’s own tasting notes.
