Crosby Coffee started in 2014 as founder Jack Foster’s pursuit of better coffee for the North West. He roasted at home on American home roasters, shared bags with friends and family and sold at local markets under the name of his hometown. Mark Slinger joined in 2016 to steer the company’s growth and finances, and the two now co-own it. Their goal is “to source and roast the very best specialty coffee and make it accessible to everyone”.
Every bean is roasted at the Ten Streets roastery, an old cotton mill that is also the head office. The roastery has its own coffee house, and the business runs three more coffee houses: in Waterloo, in Aigburth (the Lark Lane Coffee House) and in Hightown. Each serves Crosby’s own coffee alongside loose-leaf teas and a rotating seasonal food menu. The roastery also hosts courses: a roastery tour, latte art, coffee tasting, home barista and filter brewing classes, sold singly or as bundles.
Crosby builds partnerships with farms across the globe and works with sustainable packaging. The online range splits into house blends and single origins, with two sugarcane decafs, and the shop sells home brewing equipment and runs weekly, fortnightly and monthly subscriptions. Among its awards are the SME Business Elite Award for Best Independent Coffee Roasters Liverpool in 2025 and a Good Food Award Gold Seal, received twice. The current retail range is listed below with the roaster’s own tasting notes.
