Natalie and Jon Perry founded Tamper Coffee in 2011 to bring a slice of Kiwi café culture to the centre of Sheffield. Jon is the New Zealander of the two, and the idea came from the time they both spent in the cafés of Auckland. The coffee comes from fellow Kiwis Ozone Coffee Roasters.

Tamper is in Sellers Wheel, a whitewashed grade II listed building from 1862 in the Cultural Industries Quarter, a short walk from the station. John Sellers & Sons first used it to make razor blades and pen knives, and the café keeps the original red brick walls and vaulted ceilings.

The kitchen cooks seasonal, Australasian-inspired dishes for breakfast and lunch, with ingredients from local suppliers wherever possible, and the bar is fully licensed, with cocktails and New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Tables can be booked online. In the evening Tamper is available for private hire, weddings and corporate events for up to 100 guests, and there is a board room for private bookings.
