À la Lo is a café and cantine in Vasastan started by Annika and Lovisa, a mother and daughter who love food, coffee, France, croissants and time spent in cafés, and wanted all of it in one place. Everything it serves is plant-based, the croissants included. Lovisa has always worked with coffee and food, and fell for French cooking and pastry during her years in Paris. The café’s croissants reached the final of the French Embassy’s “Stockholm’s best croissant” competition.

The coffee comes from Belleville Brûlerie in Paris. The bar runs café filtre with a refill, espresso, noisette, allongé, crème, latte, flat white, cortado and iced latte, with oat milk as standard. Croissants are baked in the morning only, beside pain au chocolat, almond croissants, cakes and a gluten-free brownie. The all-day menu covers breakfast, brunch and lunch: levain avocado toast, scrambled tofu, pain perdu with whipped “ricotta”, porridge, frozen banana yoghurt and a kimchi grilled cheese, with a brunch plate.

Tables are not booked; names go on a list at the till. Dogs are welcome. The café caters for meetings and events, and Lovisa teaches croissant-baking courses that also cover the basics of brewing coffee at home. Belleville Brûlerie roasts for À la Lo.
