Plants & Flours is Laura Skandy’s vegan bakery in Wedding, by U Seestraße. Every recipe is free of animal products, a step she took because she is sure no guest will miss anything, and her motto is “Ich backe Torte für alle!”: vegans should get the same real wedding cake as everyone else. The style is purist and floral, with flowers, fruit, chocolate and sometimes leaves or branches on the cakes, and she works out with each client what can be done.
The bakery makes cakes to order for weddings, birthdays and company events, with tastings for wedding cakes, pick-up from the shop and delivery inside the Berlin S-Bahn ring. The carrot cake can also be made gluten-free.
The café serves the whole bakery range, vegan cakes, cheesecakes, cookies and brownies, in a small room with exposed brick, a few tables and tall windows onto the street. The coffee is Fairtrade coffee from Flying Roasters, the roastery also based in Wedding, and there is an organic matcha latte. All drinks and pastries can be taken away. Flying Roasters roasts for it.
