ACID is a modern bakery and coffee company, founded in Madrid in 2017 from a desire to offer an honest approach to coffee, baking and design. It does not roast. Through its Coffee Program it works each month with roasters it likes from around the world, showcasing their coffees and the producers behind them.
ACID Café, the first store, opened in 2017 in Las Letras and marked the beginning of its intention to work with bright coffees. ACID Bakehouse opened in Lavapiés in 2021 and turned the company into a bakery: an open room with red interiors and the bakery at the back, which sends fresh bakes to every ACID site daily. The bakery works with sourdough and cultured butter, makes croissants, pain au chocolat and Scandinavian-inspired pastries, and develops new specials each month with the season. ACID Shop in Chueca occupies a former gemstone store, an intimate, unexpected, quiet café. Online ordering is coming.
In 2024 ACID opened its first site outside Spain, ACID Mitte in Berlin, and followed it with ACID P-Berg in Prenzlauer Berg in 2025, facing the Tchoban Foundation. The rooms are minimal yet warm, and the company sells sourdough breads wholesale to restaurants and food businesses in Madrid and Berlin.
