Monkee Koffee is a coffee shop in Chamberí, from a Spanish business focused on producing and selling specialty coffee since 2014, with values of quality, customer service, transparency and respect for the environment. The barista is “the heart and soul” of Monkee Koffee.
The coffee menu runs espresso, cortado, latte, cappuccino and flat white, batch brew, americano, pour-over, cold brew, coffee tonic, affogato and an orange juice espresso, with extras such as a home-made ginger reduction and turmeric syrup. The kitchen does tostadas on sourdough with organic ingredients, brioche sandwiches, yoghurt or chia bowls, croissants and smoothies, and in the evening there are craft beers and cocktails, among them an espresso martini. Sign-ups for the café’s chess tournament are taken online.
Randall Coffee Roasters roasts Monkee’s most popular coffees, with a roast made for Monkee on a Giesen roaster; the current Randall-roasted bags are a Guatemalan washed lot, an Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, an Indonesian natural from the Ijen volcano, a Rwandan Red Bourbon and a Nicaraguan decaf. In September 2025 Monkee roasted a coffee itself for the first time, a natural Caturra from Albeiro Lugo in Colombia, with the plan to keep adding its own microlots while Randall continued with the main coffees. La Leona Luz followed in November 2025 and Maracay Natural, from Luz Helena Salazar in Quindío, in April 2026; the Brisas lot from Brayan Smith in Huila, added in May 2026, is also roasted by Monkee under the company name Slow Koffee SL. Each coffee comes with its producer, farm, altitude, process and the roaster’s cupping score, and the shop sells 250 g and 1 kg bags ground for nine brew methods, plus Fellow, Hario, Kalita, Timemore and Chemex equipment.
The coffees Monkee roasts itself are listed below with the roaster’s own tasting notes.
