LOT61’s tagline is “Born in Sydney. Raised in Brooklyn. Roasting in Amsterdam.” It has been serving friends since 2003; its people left home with a sense of adventure and are at their best using their hands. It first fired up its Probat roaster almost a decade ago; the roastery is in the west of the city, and the goal is to become a circular coffee brand, from reusable or recyclable products to a lower carbon footprint.

LOT61 has five cafés in all: Oud-West, Oud-Zuid, one inside the DoubleTree by Hilton at Amsterdam Centraal station, one at Westfield in Leidschendam and one by the station in Almere. The Centraal café has a minimalist interior in natural colours, pastries baked daily, matcha drinks, soft serve in summer in matcha and vanilla, and collaborations with local creatives and musicians, including Brew Crew and Coffee Rave events.

The coffee is roasted in-house and sold in three families. The blends started with Bombora, the house blend and LOT61’s first creation, followed by Zimzala, Nosegrind, FIVR and the sugarcane-processed Fresh Water Decaf. Single O covers single-origin lots labelled for espresso or filter. Reserve O is the company’s competition-level curation, launched with a Panama geisha from Iris Estate and roasted to order weekly. LOT61 also offers brew guides for AeroPress, French press, Chemex, espresso, V60 and moka pot, subscriptions and compostable capsules, and trains its wholesale customers. The current retail range is listed below with the roaster’s own tasting notes.
