Rum Baba is an independent roastery based in Amsterdam, “here to show you what good coffee can be”. Jeroen, Lusan and the Rum Baba team have been sourcing, roasting and serving specialty coffee for fifteen years and roast a line-up that runs from espressos to filters and blends. The range is sold as Light Roast, Medium Roast, a darker line called Liquid Diamonds, and decaf. A real person answers the webshop’s chat window.

Rum Baba East, near the Oosterpark, is the largest site: a shop with a brew bar, shelves of beans and brewing tools, and a bakery at the back whose marble cake is “notorious”. Because it is officially a shop, seating is limited. Rum Baba Elandsgracht, on the edge of the Jordaan, is a smaller shop and brew bar with an open bar layout that gives it a living-room feel, and the place to bring coffee questions. Both sites sell beans and serve to sit in or take away.

The roastery, in the western port and open by appointment only, moves to Haarlem on 1 November 2026. Rum Baba also runs free coffee workshops: cuppings hosted by Victor after hours on a Wednesday evening about once a month, tasting the current line-up side by side. The webshop ships internationally and offers subscriptions and wholesale.

The current retail range is listed below with the roaster’s own tasting notes.
