Koffie ende Koeck is a fully vegan daytime café in Amsterdam’s Westerpark area. Maartje Borst started it in 2014 and wrote Taart ende Koeck, the recipe book behind many of its classic cakes. Its main staff, Leonie and Ruby, took it over in June 2022, and Ruby has owned it independently since Leonie stepped down in the summer of 2024. Cakes and patisserie lead the menu, with breakfast, lunch and an afternoon tea that is the one thing the café takes reservations for. The room seats sixteen, with a terrace from March until October, and everything can be taken away.
The coffee is roasted relatively light. The organic beans come from Bocca, with other local roasters alongside, and filter coffee is served by the mug. Milk drinks are made with oat milk from Real Oat Arts, a local brand, and soy is there for anyone severely intolerant to gluten. The teas come from Mr. Jones Tea and Crusio Tea, unflavoured and single sourced, and include a cherry blossom leaf tisane.
In June 2026 the café opened a second location, Cocoon, in Bos en Lommer, about ten minutes away. It has a large open kitchen, twice the space of the original café and room for thirty, and serves vegan brunch dishes, with tables that can be booked. Bocca roasts the organic coffee Koffie ende Koeck serves.
