Scandinavian Embassy does not roast; its role is “ambassadors of Scandinavian roasted coffees”. It serves coffees from small roasters in Denmark, Sweden and Norway, The Coffee Collective, Koppi and Drop Coffee among them, and its bar focuses on taste experience and coffee diversity across several brewing methods.
The café sits beside the Sarphatipark in De Pijp, in an intimate Scandinavian setting, with coffee and homemade pastries. The kitchen is the other half of the idea. It combines experience in Scandinavian food and sustainability, traces small niche suppliers, follows the seasons and serves low-priced menus with a fine-dining presentation, keeping to the healthy and eco-friendly roots of Scandinavian cuisine. It also pairs coffee with food. Workshops are coming soon.
In 2022 the business opened a second site, Scandinavian Embassy Bakery & Shop, in Amsterdam-Zuid. It carries the classics from the café and a wider range of buns, pastries, bread and other products to take home, has its own coffee station, and keeps a corner where customers can sit and watch the bakers at work. The bakery also takes catering requests and hosts private dining. A webshop sells bags of coffee from the roasters the café serves, cinnamon, cardamom and almond buns for pre-order, and a few accessories; every online order is collected at the bakery.
The coffee is roasted by The Coffee Collective, Koppi, Drop Coffee and other Scandinavian roasters; Scandinavian Embassy roasts nothing itself.
