Fireheart Coffee is a London roaster built around seasonal beans roasted to order. It began when Paul and Russell, who have spent decades in the hospitality trade, met Thomas, a New Zealander who is now Fireheart’s coffee buyer and roaster. The three saw room for a coffee company that would champion seasonality and simplicity.
Fireheart roasts on demand at its London roastery, including the coffee that goes into its pods, and packs its bags in recyclable pouches. Its “Transparent C” sourcing policy sets a floor at the farm gate: farmers and co-operatives receive at least 50% over the Fairtrade price, which comes to at least $2.10 per pound of green coffee. It buys through three importers that can trace each coffee back to the farm, and it is working towards B Corp certification.
The range is split into staples, such as the organic Palace Blend from Peru and Colombia and a single-origin Brazil from Fazenda Mió; specials and “showstoppers”, such as a washed anaerobic Pink Bourbon from Sebastian Gomez in Colombia; and the Popayán decaf. Fireheart also supplies cafés, caterers and other businesses with beans, training and leased La Marzocco and Mahlkönig equipment.
