Gecko Coffeehouse is in Shoreditch, and everything on its menu is plant-based, from the bakery to the brunch plates: an açaí bowl, protein pancakes, portobello tacos and the Gecko Breakfast.
The house espresso is roasted in-house in small weekly batches on a Bellwether electric roaster, and it changes with the season. At the time of writing it was a washed Colombian with the café’s notes of milk chocolate, nectarine and vanilla. Hand-brewed filter comes in three tiers: a house coffee the café describes as chocolatey, a fruity guest coffee and a premium guest coffee, with the guests coming from other roasters around Europe. There is cold brew, and the matcha is ceremonial grade from Kyo’s Matcha.
Gecko runs an events programme: cuppings with Curve, Square Mile, Bailies, Catalyst and Mission Coffee Works, a latte-art throwdown, supper clubs and summer dinners from Thursday to Saturday. Daytime is walk-in only, with no bookings. Beans are sold in the café; the online shop lists event tickets only. The official site has no social links of its own, so the Instagram and Facebook accounts listed here come from its European Coffee Trip profile.
Coffee on the bar
Coffee details come from the roaster's own listings and are dated observations, not a promise of what is on the grinder today.
