Square Mile Coffee was founded in 2008 by Anette Moldvaer and James Hoffmann and is now directed by Felicity Whitehead. It sources seasonal coffee through long relationships and has worked with many of its suppliers and customers for well over a decade. By its own account, it helped put London’s specialty coffee scene on the map.

The roastery is in East London. On the first Friday of every month the events team runs a Roastery Tour and Tasting, with tickets booked in advance: the tour follows coffee through the roastery from green to roasted and ends with a tasting at the cupping table, built around the season, producer highlights and the current coffees. Group and corporate events take place at the roastery, at the Prufrock Barista Training Centre and at offices, with virtual events and event kits shipped worldwide. Tom and Sara, both SCA accredited trainers, host the events. The training centre runs courses from home brewing to professional barista training and SCA certified modules, along with team-building workshops.

Square Mile supplies coffee shops, restaurants, offices and workspaces around the world. For home brewers it sells seasonal releases, regular and decaf espresso, filter subscriptions and brewing equipment, and its Twelve Lessons in Coffee subscription programme is another way into its coffees.
