Hermanos means brothers, and the brothers are Victor and Santiago Gamboa, who founded the company with Adnan Millwala after he had spent time in Colombia learning about coffee. The first site was a pop-up in Walthamstow in 2018. Hermanos roasts only Colombian coffee, bought directly from farmers the founders visit, and the plan is to keep growing across the UK and internationally. Hermanos won Best Coffee Shop Operator for ten to fifty locations at the London Coffee Festival Awards 2026, for the second year running.

The first roasts were done in a living room, and its first roastery was under a railway arch at Angel Lane in Walworth. Roasting has since moved to Walthamstow, doubling capacity, and the arch is still a café. Hermanos roasts in small batches, and most of its lots carry a medium or medium-light roast. It sells beans online and through a subscription with Classic and Exotic collections, as well as coffee pods and tasting kits, and runs a wholesale arm and a franchise programme.

There are ten locations across London. A kiosk at King’s Cross St Pancras sits at the foot of the Great Northern Hotel. Victoria Station is one of the oldest sites and takeaway only, as is the Columbia Road shop by the Sunday flower market. The others are Portobello Road in Notting Hill, Barnes village, Walthamstow near the Wetlands, the Loom in Whitechapel, a listed former wool warehouse, Muro in Aldgate and the Gantry hotel in Stratford’s East Village. Most have seating and Wi-Fi, and the shops carry the retail bags alongside pastries and, in Walthamstow, a homemade banana bread.
