WatchHouse Bishopsgate is an Espresso House in the City of London, a short walk from the St Mary Axe House. WatchHouse, the London coffee roaster behind it, opened its first House in a former watch house in Bermondsey in 2014, and Bishopsgate is designed as a more polished version of that original site’s grab-and-go service.

It is a conceptual espresso bar built for fast-paced coffee service. The bar runs a Slayer Steam LPx espresso machine. The espresso comes as White, a coffee chosen for milk, Black or decaf, for drinks from a piccolo to a flat white or cappuccino, and batch brew rotates through WatchHouse’s three coffee collections. Matcha, a chai latte made with soy and hot chocolate are on the drinks menu too. The food is a short offering of WatchHouse Bakery goods and sandwiches, from croissants and pain au chocolat to cardamom buns and cake.

The House stands on ground first settled by the Romans, and the design leans on that history: Italian materials such as marble, stone and terrazzo, and classical curved shapes. Wood is the other core material, for warmth and to tie the room to the other Houses. There is outdoor seating, and dogs are welcome.
