In the 1800s Fetter Lane was busy with the publishing trade. Today it sits in a district of international business and law firms in the City of London, and WatchHouse, the London coffee roaster that opened its first House in a Bermondsey watch house in 2014, designed its House here for that pace.

Fetter Lane is built as a true espresso bar, with design and service planned together and the personal touch kept. Customers are guided along a terrazzo bar, where the coffee is handed over before they head back to work. For those with a moment to spare, a cushioned booth looks out onto the street from inside the House.

As an Espresso House, the coffee shop pairs coffee from the WatchHouse roastery with food from the counter: fresh bakes and sandwiches. The counter menu runs from croissants, almond croissants and cardamom buns to a dark chocolate and salted caramel tart, carrot cake and House banana bread. On the drinks menu, espresso comes as White, a coffee for milk, Black or decaf, and the batch brew comes from the Rituals, Ventures or Horizons collection. Dogs are welcome. Nearby City Houses: Bishopsgate and St Mary Axe.
